Around two dozen young painters, both male and female, gathered in a coordinated action to paint peace murals in city walls in Mazar-e-Sharif city.

In an atmosphere of peace, free of violence and war, the young artists painted their wishes and desires on the city walls for the public to see. The peace mural painting event was organized by Mediothek Balkh and in cooperation with Bawar Media Center and financially supported by the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mazar-e-Sharif.

The mural painting event was launched following a peace contest by Mediothek Balkh, announced nearly a month ago, and young artists from nine north and northeast provinces presented their plans and ideas about peace in the form of mural art.

The young participating artists in the competition painted their ideas and murals on the walls voluntarily, while paint and tools were provided by Mediothek Balkh and the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The youth participating artists in the competition entitled “Peace” are expected to paint their thoughts and ideas about peace in their own provinces across other northern and northeastern provinces, including Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Jawzjan, Samangan, Badakhshan, Kundar, Baghlan and Takhar.
