A Night of Storytelling
Storytelling, particularly short storytelling is a rich cultural and literary Afghan tradition, being written, told and re-told for hundreds and thousands of years, it intertained people, it reflected their euphoria as well as their sorrow. Storytelling is still the foremost method of self-expression and social reflection in the Afghan culture.
But, years of war and destruction has been impacted this tradition like so many others, and it needs to be refurbished, encourage and stimulated. And Mediothek Afghanistan has been working with writers and storytellers from across the country, motivating and encouraging writing and producing stories and introducing the Afghan face to the rest of the world through storytelling, and this gathering, held on 19th of June of 2013, was also a motivational and literary gathering for young writers of Pashto language.
The gathering was held in partnership with Arakozia FM, a Kabul based FM radio station. Last month, Mediothek in partnership with Arakozia FM hosted a poetry gathering in which more than 80 persons participated.
