Deputy Head and acting head of the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Maza-e-Sharif, capital city of Balkh province, Mr. Frank Horst visited Mediothek Balkh.
During his visit from Mediothek Balkh, Mr. Horst said that he has heard about the works and activities of the center prior to coming to Mazar-e-sharif, especially from the former General Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mazar-e-Sharif. Mr. Horst expressed pleasure for seeing a rich art gallery in Mediothek office in Mazar-e-Sharif, adding that in his youth had has been an avoid enthusiast of arts such as painting and music and had contributed with friends and classmates on these topics in his youth and this was partially a motive to visit Mediothek and its art gallery.
Mr. Horst asked about the activities of Mediothek Afghanistan and Mawlana Peace house in general and specifically during the coronavirus pandemic, and pleged to support the center.
Mediothek Balkh Coordinator, Mohammad Saber Naqshbadi, welcomed the deputy head of the General Consulate and said that the Mawlana Peace House belongs to the people of Balkh and we are thankful for the generous support of the Germany for building this center which a home for everyone.
Mr. Naqshbadi talked about the activities and programs of Mediothek Afghanistan and Mediothek Balkh, adding that diverse programs on peace building and conflict resolution, provincial peace caravans, youth peace ambassadors of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan, regional peace festivals, training on peace and investigative journalisms are some of the major activities of work of Mediothek Afghanistan.
Mr. Naqshbadi explained that despite challenges and restrictions due to the spread of coronavirus and the risk associated with virus, Mediothek Balkh was able to organized several important and impactful events including marking the International Women’s Day, celebrating the International Day of Peace and the International Day of Literacy with the financial support of German Cooperation. Mediothek is also planning to organize several other similar events on marking the international day of ending violence against women and international day of human rights till the end of this year, added Mr. Naqshbandi.
In addition to these events, Mediothek Balkh also managed to run several art programs during the coronavirus pandemic, program such as art exhibition called “A look into Future” with the support of the General Consulate of Germany in Mazar-e-Sharif, mural on becoming mother in childhood with the support of UNAMA, and mural art… and other art programs.
